I Hate the Law

We were driving down the road, minding our own business, and come upon an anti-abortion protest. Xander sees all these people outside and asks me what is going on.

I am obviously not going to go into details about Abortion with my 6 yr old son. So this is what I tell him, “These people are protesting. You see Xan, sometimes there are laws in our country that people don’t like. But just because we don’t like a law – that doesn’t mean that we can just break the law. So the best way to express how we feel about a law in a peaceful way is to protest it – like what these people are doing.”

He’s in the back seat, and gets quiet for a while and then he says, “Well – I should be out there with them! Because I HATE the law!”
