Ethan & Mario

Ethan’s birthday is about a month away and the planning has started. This is one kid who knows his mind… he knows exactly what kind of party, cake and present he wants- and he’s not afraid to tell me, or anyone else for that matter! (Mario party, DS & Mario cake and Mario Galaxy 2 for a present:)

Every year I have the boys parties at our house, and every year I say “Next year I am doing what the other (smarter) Mums do, and have the party at a party place!” I say this for a couple valid reasons: It is a lot more work to do it at home, because you have to come up will all of the games and entertainment, and all of the set up and tear down, which I wouldn’t have to do if I had the parties at a gym. Then there’s the fact that both of the boys birthdays fall in or around winter – that means that I have 15 boys INSIDE my house – tearing it apart!

Yet, somehow, another year rolls around and I do it at home all over again! I must be mental.

At least this year I am anticipating the amount of work and am starting a month out, to hopefully minimize the stress. But the truth is that when I’m not stressing out – I really get a kick out of doing it. I must, right? Or else I would stick to my word and STOP.

So, I spent most of my day looking up ideas for a fun Mario birthday party. I haven’t yet found any cake ideas that The Man approved of, so still a lot of researching to do before I can get started on things. There will be lots of posts to follow over the next month regarding Mario – that’s for sure!

This is not related to this rest of this post, except that it is still about Ethan, but he is in a full day, every other day, Junior Kindergarten program. So he goes to school all day Monday, Wednesday and every other Friday. He handles it well – but he is my kid who LOVES to sleep and would take a nap every single day of his life if he could. Going to school all day puts a bit of a crimp in that plan.

Well, Monday was his first day back at school and while he really enjoyed it, it clearly pooped him right out, because the poor guy couldn’t even make it through dinner.

Poor tired baba. By the time his birthday gets here, he’ll have one tired Mama too!
